Marijn Akkermans predominantly works on paper. He paints with diluted Indian ink, makes collages and books of original work. He has occasionally worked as a scenographer in theatre. He studied at ArtEZ, Arnhem, Escola de Dessiny, Barcelona ES, and Dutch Art Institute, Enschede, followed with a residency at Schloss Ringenberg in Hamminkeln, Germany. In 2010 Akkermans was awarded the Van Bommel Van Dam Award.
